DeathSnail is a game by Adullum Labs Inc. (“we”). This page explains what the game collects, why, who helps us run it, and what you can do about it. Questions go to hello@adullumlabs.com.
The short version. DeathSnail needs your location to play: Terry crawls toward where your phone says you are. We keep only the last place you were seen, not a history. No other player ever sees your location, and we never give your GPS location to advertisers. Your account is anonymous: no email, phone number or password. You can delete it, and its data, whenever you like. If you join the waitlist on this website, we keep your email only until we've told you DeathSnail is out.
What we collect, and why
Your location
- Where you are when you move: latitude and longitude, how accurate your phone says that is, and when. Terry heads for the last position we accepted. We keep only that one position for each account and replace it every time, so there is no history of where you've been.
- How often. With “Always” location, your phone reports when you leave a circle around your last position (between 200 m and 1 km wide, smaller as Terry gets closer), and about every 15 m once Terry is within 200 m. With the app open, it also reports as you walk. With “While Using”, it reports only while the app is open.
- Terry's path. We store the points Terry has crawled through (up to 300) to draw Terry's trail. Because Terry follows you, the path shows roughly where you've been. Only you can see it.
- Town names. When you leave town, your phone looks up the name of the city you're in and sends it with that position, so Terry can mention it in a notification to you (“Lisbon? Lovely.”). We don't store it.
Your account and your game
- An anonymous account ID, created the first time you open the app.
- The display name you choose. It appears on public leaderboards, and you can change it in Settings.
- Your birth year, to check you're 13 or older. Nobody else sees it.
- Your units (kilometers or miles) and time zone, for your morning report and salt records.
- Your game: Terry's number and progress, when you started, how far you've moved, salt you've used, Terry's trips (how many, and the straight-line distance flown) and, eventually, when Terry caught you.
- Names you report.
Notifications
- A push token, so we can send Terry's warnings to your phone. Notifications travel through Expo's push service, then Apple or Google.
- The app keeps your last 20 notifications on your phone so you can look back at them. That list never leaves your phone.
Purchases
If you buy “Remove the banner ads”, RevenueCat records the purchase against your anonymous account ID. Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see your card or payment details.
Ads
- Google AdMob shows a banner on the map and the optional ads that earn salt. To do that, AdMob may collect your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone, only if you allow tracking), your IP address (which gives an approximate location), the ads you see and tap, and diagnostics.
- In the EU, the UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws, Google's consent form asks before ads are personalized. Where the law requires it, you can change your choice later in Settings, under “Ad privacy choices”. On iPhone, Apple also asks whether DeathSnail may track you. Ads still work if you say no; they're just less personal.
- Players under 16 are shown ads as minors, with nothing personalized.
- We never pass your GPS location to AdMob or anyone else in advertising.
- How Google uses this data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Crash reports
If the app crashes, Sentry receives a report: the device model, system version, app version and where in the code it failed. Reports don't include your location or personal details.
This website
deathsnail.app is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. The site sets no cookies and uses no analytics.
The waitlist
Before DeathSnail is out, you can leave your email on deathsnail.app to hear when it is. We keep your email address, the phone you picked (iPhone or Android), when you signed up, and the name of the post that brought you to the site if its link says (such as “tiktok”). We use them for one thing: a single email when DeathSnail is out on your phone. Then we delete your address. To come off the list sooner, write to hello@adullumlabs.com from that address. The list is stored by Cloudflare.
What other players see
Only your display name, Terry's number and how long you've survived. Never where you are, where you've been, or where your Terry is.

They process data only to provide their service to us. Where data moves between countries, for example from Europe to the United States, it's protected by recognized safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Why we're allowed to use it
For players in the EU and the UK:
- To run the game you asked to play: your location, account, game, notifications and purchases.
- With your consent: personalized ads and tracking, and the waitlist's launch email. You can change your mind in Settings or in your phone's settings, or by asking us to take you off the waitlist.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the game fair (rejecting impossible movements), fixing crashes and moderating names.
How long we keep it
- As long as your account exists.
- When you delete your account, we delete it and everything tied to it straight away. Copies in our backups disappear within 7 days.
- If you delete your account while Terry is still hunting you, it counts as fleeing, and we keep one anonymous record for the game's statistics: Terry's number, when the game started, how long it lasted, and Terry's trips. It isn't linked to you.
- Your notification history stays on your phone until you delete the app.
- Waitlist addresses: until we've sent the one email for your phone, then we delete them.
Children
DeathSnail is for people 13 and older. The app asks for a birth year before anything else and turns away anyone who says they're under 13. If you believe a child under 13 is playing, write to us and we'll delete the account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. In the EU and the UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. Delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account) or by email. For anything else, write to hello@adullumlabs.com with your Terry number, which Settings shows at the bottom.
California: we don't sell personal information for money. Personalized ads may count as “sharing” under California law; you can opt out with the ad choices described above, or by turning off personalized ads in your phone's settings.
Security
Everything travels encrypted. Only our server can change a game, and each player can read only their own data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and its date, and tell you in the app if the change matters.
